Everything back together, but still not running smoothly

 

The long awaited pulley finally arrived today! Mounting it was a fast process without problems. However, apperently it is very important to not accidentally drop the spring washer. The tiny thing cost me quite some time and nerves but with some luck I found it again.

The spring washer needed some filing to fit into the groove but compared to other things so far this probably enters the category minor issues. Afterwards, it was possible to mount and tension the V-belt.

 

 

Now should have been the final moment for everything to work. Every necessary replacement (and potentially also some unnecessary ones) had been made. The parts were mounted back as properly as possible. Fuel was refilled.

With excitment and expectation the ignition key was turned and...

 

 

Level of frustration: At max....

But there was no use to mope, the fault needed to be found and repaired.  After talking to an expert a new battle plan was drawn:

inspection of the ignition, replacement of faulty contact breakers, adjustement of the ignition, finally driving our Wartburg...

 

If the battle plan will really work that way, we will find out soon, when the ordered contact breakers arrive...
